I've Officially Survived the First Day of School. (Hope.)

I just got home from school and realized that it was Tuesday and that I should probably post my Teen Tuesday post. :p

I was gone last week on vacation, and I got a lot of reading done. I read seven books:

-->House of Dance - Beth Kephart
-->City of Bones - Cassandra Clare
-->The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod: Eighth Grade Bites - Heather Brewer
-->Courage in Patience - Beth Feldbaum
-->Unbelievable - Sara Shepard
-->The Midnight Twins - Jacqulen Mitchard
-->Larry and the Meaning of Life - Janet Tashjian

I enjoyed all of them a lot. I'll just give you a little rundown of them:

House of Dance was a great book about the relationship of a granddaughter and grandfather. It was written wonderfully and the setting was really nice.

City of Bones was just... wow. It was exciting, and even though it was long, I read it in one day. I have City of Ashes on hold now from my library. Is there any more after City of Ashes?

Eighth Grade Bites was just... okay, in my opinion. It wasn't the best, it wasn't too bad. I don't know if I'm going to read the next one, Ninth Grade Slays or not.

Courage in Patience was a very moving books. It's one of my favorite books now. If you're looking for a light read, you will not find it in this book, but it is still very excellent. I've posted the review on my personal blog. Click here.

Unbelievable was pretty much amazing. It had me hooked and.. gosh. I can't wait for the next one to come out now. I think this may be my favorite Pretty Little Liar book so far.

The Midnight Twins was just okay. I felt that a lot of scenes were forced in it, and it made it very hard to read. I liked the concept - it's something I've never read about before, but it was just too... forced for my taste.

Larry and the Meaning of Life was hilarious. It was very unrealistic - but I still enjoyed it. There are two books before it, which I haven't read, and I didn't know how I was going to feel about it because I haven't read the other two, but everything made sense and the footnotes were really funny. I put the first to on my To Be Read List because they sound really cool.

That's it for now. Sorry if this seems a little rushed to you - I just got my yearbook from last year today and I'm eager to thumb through it. :p

hope.

Isn't that Michigan law about not staring school until after Labor Day spiffy? I *heart* it.

Oh, yes. It's wonderful. :p
The first day of school we never do anything anyway, since at my school it's a half day. We don't even get any sylabusses or anything until the second day. Today I just listened to all the teachers talk. Fun stuff. :p

hope.

I didn't even technically go to school today...half day, and all I did was attend my college classes.

Lucky you. I hate how the first day is just them talking to you about nothingness for twenty seven minutes (that's how long our classes are on a half day because we have six minutes of passing time).

Next year, I'll most likely be taking classes at college, too (dually enrolled). Is that what you do? How is it (if that is what you do, lol)?

I actually go to an advanced math/science half day program based in the university in our town (Ferris State...have you heard of it?). Freshmen and sophomore years you take classes with instructors in their classrooms, and then junior and senior years you take college classes. It's pretty sweet, love the classes, the profs, the style, and I love the flexibility--two mornings a week I don't have classes.

That sounds like a sweet set-up. I know about Ferris - one of the seniors that was in choir last year is going there this year to get a medical degree of some time.

I just go to a plain old regular public school. :p It's not the best - it focuses a lot on sports, of which I don't do any - but I get by fine. :p

hope.

Yeah, well my high school is the same--they think they're so special cause they won the Michigan Blue Ribbon Exemplary Award (it's such a sham) two years ago. My mother calls it an award in mediocrity. They hate students like me, cause we only attend half a day, and we're "taking away all their money". Psh.

Yeah, that'd be my school. We've won the state wresting for a few years now, and none of our sports are too bad either. The jocks feel like they're so much better - and the teachers usually will forgive them for not turning in homework assignments and stuff because they had a game the night before. It makes me mad..

Haha. You guys are a hoot and a half.

1. I have House of Dance in my stack. Don't know if I'll like it.

2. City of Bones is also in my stack. There aren't any after City of Ashes except City of Glass is coming out soon... so I guess there is a book after Ashes =P

3. I really really wanna read Courage in Patience.

4. Unbelievable was AMAZING. I read it last week (or, well, like two weeks ago now) and I LOVED it.

Chelsie --

1. You'll like House of Dance. :]

2. I didn't know there was one after City of Ashes. Geez, I'm out of the know here. lol. But City of Glasses is ready to be picked up from my library, but my libraries closed this weekend because it's our fair weekend. :( I was so excited to go and get it Thursday, too. :(

3. It's really good.

4. I know! Oh my gosh, I cannot wait for the next one. I mean, there's supposed to be eight in the series, but now that we know what we know how is that supposed to work? You know? Oh dear. It was amazing.

hope.

Aren't schools just great? I hatre public school so much. I've been spoiled...I never had to go to a public school until I started high school, and I was astounded at how it was.
