What Chelsea's Been Reading...

Oh, hey look! It's Tuesday. Meaning I get to embarrass myself again at my lack of reading updates. This week I made my way through these books:

-The White Darkness by Geraldine McCaughrean
-The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton
-1/2 of The Orpheus Obsession by Dakota Lane

Buuuut! I also was - get this - WRITING. I haven't written in so long. And I do it sporadically. I really should come up with a schedule. Or at least write for like...fifteen minutes a day. But making writing a job would take the fun out of it, right? I don't know. I think I'm going to try it and see how it goes. Since I do eventually want to make it my job. And keep it as fun. So I should probably practice...

Anyway, you can find reviews of those books at my blog. I absolutely, positively loved The Outsiders. It was the first time I've read it, despite it being a YA classic. And now I really want to see the movie. Does it compare, for those of you who've both read&seen it?

Hopefully I'll be reading more this week. And writing! Until next Tuesday...

Oh, and p.s. -- There's a contest up for a signed copy of Amor and Summer Secrets by Diana Rodriguez Wallach, which I believe releases in September, and is the first in a series. It sounds amazing, so go enter!

Speaking of your writing, I was in a library (not my library, a different one) and I was just perusing and they had that one issue of Teen Ink available to read, and I saw your article in it and I was super proud =P

And I absolutely adored The Outsiders, which stayed pretty much true to the book like movies nowadays don't (thank God for the 80s).

However, I'd recommend the special edition DVD, because in the old version the first chapter is cut out and in the special edition DVD it's added as an extra scene. It's kind of interesting to watch =D

You've never read The Outsiders? Man, I love that book. It's required reading for eighth graders in my school system. The movie and the book were pretty much the same, which was amazing. :p

I'm going to enter your contest now. :D

hope.

!!!!! Chelsie! That's SO COOL. I haven't seen a copy other than the one they sent me. Eee, that makes me excited. I'm going to submit a short story to them soon...

Hope - Nope. Never got assigned it. I'm glad, too, because I probably wouldn't have enjoyed it as much as I did when reading it on my own for pleasure.
